Oktoberfest 2008

Beer and bratwurst lovers prepare yourselves.

The German Air Force Air Defense Center at Fort Bliss will be host to the 7th annual Oktoberfest beginning at 6 p.m. Sept. 12-13 in Building 747, at the intersection of Carter and Pleasonton roads on Fort Bliss.

The $25 admission includes an authentic Bavarian dinner, a beer stein and a raffle ticket. All proceeds for the event support the German Air Force Aid-for-the-Needy program. This year the program will work to help flood victims in El Paso and Juárez.

Make sure you make it out there before the traditional tapping of the first keg 7 p.m. Friday. Another tapping will take place Saturday. This year’s live entertainment will be German band, “The Eyachtaler.”

If you are an off-post visitor, you'll need to get a day pass from one of the Pass Offices at Robert E. Lee Gate and Cassidy Gate. Make sure you and your passengers have a driver’s license or government ID card, proof of car insurance, and registration.
