79th Annual Rodeo

From Laura Cruz-Acosta, About.com GuideSeptember 20, 2008

I've dug out my cowboy boots from my closet and dusted them off. Why? I'm thinking of heading out to the Southwest International PRCA Rodeo.

Cowboy bootsThis annual event is loads of fun for the entire family. However, I was bummed out to learn that the organization no longer has a junior livestock show. That might have been my favorite part of the event. I always enjoyed watching the small kids show off their lambs, pigs and roosters. The good news is they do support 4-H and FFA students through scholarships to accredited colleges and universities.

If you go to the rodeo you'll need to get your tickets from the Diablos ticket office at Cohen Stadium. Tickets are $8 for general admission and $10 for reserved seating. Children 5 and under get in free.

If you don't want to the rodeo you might consider goin' two-steppin' at the Rodeo Dance tonight at 7:30 p.m.

I'll see y'all out there.
