Travel further down Sheridan Road and you’ll find the Japanese Garden. According to the Fort Bliss Official Post Guide, the garden was built in 1972 and is maintained by the Japanese Armed Forces as a symbol of friendship.

Because of Fort Bliss’ immense airspace capacity, Japan maintains liaison officers at Fort Bliss and annually sends a party of its air defense artillery troops for training.
