Named after Peter Kern’s estranged daughter Madeline, the park is located off of Kern Drive and Baltimore Drive and is recognized as one of the city’s best parks.

In 1982, the Kern Place Association entered into the City of El Paso’s first park partner agreement to develop a master plan to revitalize the park. The partnership allowed for residents to purchase more than 150 trees and a new sprinkler system. The association continues to make park improvements such as new playground equipment, a resurfaced tennis court, and a gazebo.

The many improvements have increased park activity and events, including annual picnics, Music in the Park and more.
